“Education is a natural process carried out by the human individual, and is acquired not by listening to words, but by experiences in the environment.”

~Maria Montessori

The goal of Montessori Stars is to teach Montessori principles to children in a safe and nurturing environment.  At Montessori Stars you will see Dr. Montessori’s principles and methodologies in every classroom.   All classroom will have appropriate materials that will stimulate children.   The aim is to create an atmosphere that focuses on the whole child.  Whether it is to teach them to tie their shoelaces, or prepare them to read and write.  The main idea is to provide children with skills that will allow them to be independent, focused, and compassionate.  Overall, to teach children to be lifelong learners. Some classrooms will consist of mixed age group from 2 years to 6 years.  Some of the benefits of a mixed age group are as follows:

  • Children learn from each other.  Older children teach younger ones.
  • Interaction – Because of the interaction with those whose age and skills level vary, children gain confidence and appreciation.
  • Community – The Montessori curriculum is based on a three year program.  By returning to the same environment each year, children become familiar with their peers and teachers.  They feel a sense of belonging to the community.
